Someone the other day referred to me as “The Table Lady” and guess what? I was so excited. I love tables and I love sharing them with you. All the tips and tricks I use to create stunning tables for parties, events, fundraiser and lazy meals at home (when you set a table and then order take out – trust me it’s just as fun as it sounds). So, today on the blog I wanted to dive into some table tips that will make your next party go to the next level just by playing up some inexpensive and creative way to decorate your table. You will be trading in your paper plates, plastic cutlery and red SOLO cups in no time.
Tip #1: Use what you have – don’t go out and buy everything for your next table. Grab some decor such as candles, flowers, knick-knacks, and items that mean a lot to you from places around your house and incorporate them into your table. On this table here I am using a Buddha statue that is usually in my office, but it created the perfect element on my Zen table.
Tip #2: You don’t have to have everything matching – you can use pieces from different sets or even different patterns. One thing that I love to do is have mismatched cutlery as it adds an element of vintage to the table and also keeps it fun! In this table below I show you how you can use different patterns together that don’t match to create some visually appealing and beautiful! I know our Mom’s taught us that stripes and polka dots don’t belong together – but on a table, it is most definitely not a fashion faux pas.
Tip #3 Use Fruit as your centerpiece – most people worry about the costs involved in creating a stunning tablescape, but when you get creative you can make a beautiful table for under $20. Here on this Cinco De Mayo table, I was inspired by the colors of the fruit that just brought the bright colors of this season to life. Adding in a few elements from your local dollar store to “spice it up” a bit and you have an occasion appropriate (and edible) centerpiece.
I hope you can use some of these tips for your next dinner party or “just because” table. Life is meant to be fun and to be celebrated each and everyday – so take the time to celebrate, create some memories and have fun.
