After an evening of indulging in rich food and fine wine, I make it a point the following few days to lovingly take care of my body. My favorite way is through juicing, smoothies and Epsom salt baths; which those are great for the inside, but what about the outside?

I am talking about our skin.

How often do you go to bed with makeup on? More than you care to admit? Now, I’m no angel. Let’s just say there have been a time or two that I didn’t have that fresh morning glow. And since I try to stay clear of toxic chemicals on my skin, I love to make my own facial treatments whenever I can.  Here’s what I do when I need to show my skin a little love.

Gentle Hydrating Mask

1/2 cup raw ground oatmeal
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon honey

Combine ingredients in a small sauce pan. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes. Let cool, apply to face and rinse after 15 minutes. For an extra boost of hydration, add a 1-2 drops of lavender oil prior to adding the mask.
